Haroon Chughtai

Part-time PhD Student

Haroon joined the Quantitative Imaging Group (QIG) in October 2021 as a part-time PhD student aligned with the i4health CDT. His research focuses on exploring machine learning approaches to enable faster diagnostic MRI protocols for neurology. He is supervised by Prof. Geoff Parker and Prof. Daniel Alexander.

In addition to his PhD work, Haroon is a Senior Research Software Engineer at UCL in the Advanced Research Computing (ARC) Centre. There his primary role is as part of the Medical Imaging Research Software Group (MIRSG) - a joint collaboration between the ARC Research Software Development Group (RSDG) and the Centre for Medical Image Computing (CMIC).

Haroon maintains HCPC registration as a Clinical Scientist in the field of Clinical Scientific Computing and has had experience working in the Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering department at UCLH NHS Foundation Trust. He is a biomedical engineer by background having gained his MEng from Imperial College London, as well as an MSc in Clinical Sciences (Informatics) from the University of Liverpool. Haroon holds full memberships of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine (IPEM), and the Faculty of Clinical Informatics (FCI).
