We are researching methods for quantifying subtle blood brain barrier damage using MRI. These methods may be of use in characterising a wide range of neurological conditions, including dementia, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, and tumours.
Water exchange
We are developing methods to measure the rate at which water moves between the blood and tissue across the blood-brain barrier.
DCE-MRI
Dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI (DCE-MRI) can quantify blood-brain barrier damage, particularly when there are relatively high levels of leakage.
